With the difficult news in the first week of January Cllr. Elliott and Cllr. Ashenden swung into action with what would be one of the most important campaigns in this pandemic.
The news that the return to school was to be delayed.
Having his own kids in school able to do their work from home Cllr. Elliott knew there were plenty of parents not fortunate enough to have devices that their children would be able to use.
"It dawned on me there were plenty of local businesses that were probably sitting on old laptops they no longer use and with the fantastic community spirit we have seen in other areas I knew we would have people come forward to give generously..." Cllr. Elliott exclaimed.
First offering to help anyone with children in the community some laptops and iPads were also donated to the local Riverview Junior School.
"Thank you so much, these laptops will go straight into use in the classrooms!" headteacher Mr Kendall said.
Today they delivered the last remaining devices.
The school is still welcoming donations should anybody have devices they no longer need.
Do please get in touch with Cllr. Elliott or Cllr. Ashenden if you are able to help.
